How to start a campaign for Projects Fundraising

1.     Decide on your objective:

Example

“We want to produce a film about our community, to raise awareness regarding the problems that young unemployed people face and to propose solutions. By creating this video we hope to create awareness and to inspire a social change in our community”.

2.     Make your target calculations.

Be realistic. The first people who will give money to your cause will be your followers, friends, community and close circle. Then it depends on your promotional efforts (Facebook, Twitter, Email), your video and marketing to mobilize more people to help.

Set your target having in mind several factors:

– No. of supporters you currently have.

– The average number of people you can reach.

– The response rate is usually 2%.

– The average donations.

– The peer effect.

Tip: It is better to include a detailed budget in your description as to be more transparent.

3. Set Reward levels – Give huggers Incentives to help your cause

€5 Receive a personalized thank you post on our Facebook page.

€15 Receive a cool T-shirt designed with our film screenshots.

€20 Be the first to receive a copy of our film.

Ingredients for success: Have passion, put emotion and believe in your cause in order to make others to believe in you.

Describe to people who you are (background), why you need the money, what will you do with the money, when will you use the money and why they should hug your cause.

Note: Don’t use copyrighted material. Always add the source!

Tip: Campaigns with a video are as twice as likely to succeed.

Video: Don’t worry about the video it can be just you telling your story or a group of friends, your organization… use anything/anyone you think will motivate people to hug your cause! You just need a computer, a camera and passion!

5. Post your video on the site and share it on the internet, social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) and email.

Social Media: Post updates each week together with the link to your video:

Example

Post updates to your fan page daily.

Share it among your friends, followers, fans, community and ask them to help you.

Email: Send the link of your wehug profile by email to your contacts, make the email personal and send personal updates each week.

Promote it as much as you can! The key to success is to make your video go viral!

6.     Recruit others to help you

Ask followers, people who are willing to help create fan pages for your cause, ambassadors of We Hug A Cause, anyone! Promote it as much as you can.

Contact media and ask them to publish it or show it on their website, TV channel, radio.

7. Embed the link on your website

8. When the campaign is over, celebrate if you reached your goal!
